A young man named Hussaini Adamu was beaten to death by a mob in Gadau, Bauchi State, after he was accused of trying to steal a sheep.
The incident happened on Thursday morning in Waila village, Itas/Gadau Local Government Area.
This was shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on Friday on X.
According to the post, Hussaini Adamu, who was 25 years old and from Gadau Lamba village, and his friend Sani Jumba from Kuka Zaure village, broke into the house of a 50-year-old man named Ziladani Yahaya to steal a sheep.
When Yahaya raised an alarm, the two suspects tried to run. In the process, they allegedly stabbed Yahaya and his 30-year-old wife, Zakiya, with a knife.
“People in the area quickly gathered, caught Hussaini Adamu, and beat him to death. His friend, Sani Jumba, escaped.
“Police officers from the Itas/Gadau Division later came to the scene, took the injured couple to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Azare, and moved the body of the suspect to the General Hospital in Itas/Gadau.
“The police say they are still searching for the second suspect and are continuing their investigation,” Makama wrote.
