Singer, Burna Boy, has broken the record for most charting albums on the US Billboard 200 among Nigerian artists.
He was previously tied with Wizkid with four albums each on the chart.
However, his new album ‘No Sign Of Weakness’ debuted at the bottom of the Billboard 200 this week, increasing his tally to five.
‘No Sign Of Weakness’ sold just 8,800 units in the US but managed to debut at Number 200 on the Billboard 200. It’s the worst debut for any Nigerian album on the chart.
Billboard’s new rule which count only sales and streams in the United States also contributed significantly to the poor performance of the album on the chart.
The chart previously counted streams from outside the US, making Afrobeats artists to leverage on their large fanbases in Nigeria, Ghana, the UK and other countries to chart higher on Billboard 200.
