Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, fired blanks as they lost 5-1 to Flamengo’s U-20 team in a pre-season friendly on Friday.
It was Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge of the former Bundesliga champions.
Ten Hag had been sacked by Manchester United last October, but got the Leverkusen job to replace Xabi Alonso this summer.
The former Ajax boss named a strong starting XI, sticking with Alonso’s 3-4-2-1 system, with new goalkeeper Mark Flekken, Jonas Hofmann and Boniface all starting.
Flamengo’s young players were 4-0 up at the break.
Lorran opened the scoring, before Arthur’s miscued clearance ended up in the back of his own net.
Flekken and Boniface were substituted off with in the 36th minute, before Matheus Goncalves and Pedro Leao added more goals.
Gusttavo made it 5-0, before Leverkusen got a consolation goal through Montrell Culbreath.
