An ex-convict, identified as Garba Karfi, said to be an informant for bandits in Ifelodun, Edu, and Patigi local government areas of Kwara State, has been arrested.
Garba Karfi, who hails from Ile Alapata in the Share community of Ifelodun Local Government Area, was apprehended on Wednesday, according to reports reaching YARN NAIJA on Saturday.
He was intercepted while attempting to deliver items, including ammunition, to bandits in the area.
A credible source informed YARN NAIJA that the suspect had allegedly committed numerous atrocities, including cattle rustling, and has now been caught as an informant to bandits, a role to which he confessed.
“He is also the one to go and buy cows for the bandits and supply them with ammunition,” the source, who preferred anonymity, disclosed.
According to the source, “Garba is a perpetual criminal that we all know and that is what we know about him.”
The source described the capture of Karfi as a breakthrough because “he can buy them over and maybe he attempted to do so but they rejected, hence, his arrest.
“This guy, we know him very well, he has committed so many crimes, I personally know him since 1998. He was caught stealing cows, about five cows, at Bacita town, he was charged to Bacita Area Court, convicted, sent to six months’ jail and served the term.”
The source charged the relevant authorities to investigate and prosecute Garba Karfi to ensure he faces the consequences of his actions.
Commenting on his background, the source revealed that “his father was the Sarkin Alapata of yesteryears in Share, but the suspect wants to assume the position and people are not favourable to his ambition,” the source added.
Attempts on Saturday to clarify the viral video of Garba Karfi being caught in the act with security agencies proved abortive, as YARN NAIJA could not confirm which of the security agencies is currently holding him.
