The Nigeria security and civil defence corps (NSCDC), Jigawa state command has apprehended two suspects in relation to separate incidents of vandalism at the Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud revealed that the first suspect, Abubakar Muhammad, 22, a student of the institution, was arrested on July 22 at approximately 11:40am for vandalism of eight TETFund-donated ceiling fans in various classrooms.
“Abubakar confessed to taking the fans, stating that he sold the electric motors to one Yahya Isma’il, 20 years old, a scrap dealer nearby Dutse Central Mosque, near his house,” the statement revealed. However, when questioned Yahya Isma’il denied being involved in any way.
The second suspect, Fahad Nasir, also 22 and residing at Unguwa Dagari in Zai, was arrested at 9:00 am on July 23, for vandalizing aluminum roofing sheets covering classrooms in the same institution.
The statement revealed that both suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues. The NSCDC also issued a stern warning to vandals to desist or face prosecution.
