Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has reacted to the team’s hard-earned victory over the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

Justine Madugu’s side breezed into the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a 2-1 win over South Africa at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca on Tuesday night.

Ajibade played a crucial role in the win, netting the curtain raiser for the Super Falcons from the spot late in the first half.

The 25-year-old was also adjudged Woman of the Match, her third of the tournament.

The Super Falcons also put an end to Banyana Banyana’s 15-game unbeaten streak at the WAFCON finals.

Ajibade said they knew South Africa will make things difficult for them.

“We know it was going to be a difficult game because every game in this tournament has been tough. We know South Africa quite well, they are a very good side,” she told reporters after the game.

“We have played each other in different competitions, Olympics qualifiers, WAFCON, but we were ready for whatever is going to come our way.”

Nigeria will take on hosts Morocco in the final in Rabat on Saturday.

The Atlas Lionesses defeated Ghana 4-2 on penalities in the second semi-final on Tuesday night.

The game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of thrilling action.
