There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress, APC, have settled for the Northcentral geopolitical zone to produce the next National Chairman of the party.
Sources revealed that the decision was reached in a series of meetings held ahead of the National Executive Committee, NEC scheduled for Thursday, today.
YARN NAIJA reports that the North-Central has been agitating for the position since the former chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who led the party to the 2023 presidential election victory tendered his resignation on June 27.
Reports indicate that the ruling party is considering Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and a former governorship of candidate of APC in Plateau State as its next National Chairman but YARN NAIJA post cannot authoritatively confirm that.
Meanwhile, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who spoke with journalists shortly after the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at Aso Villa on Wednesday night said the NEC meeting will be brief.
According to him, the “meeting will be a very brief one that will centre on the appointment of the National Chairman”.
On whether there will be a consensus appointment of a new chairman, the Imo Governor simply said, “we cannot say what the outcome will be. When you come there tomorrow (today), you will see it.”
